New Fire Engine
The Groveland Fire Department’s goal is to provide our community with the best possible service and protection. For the past four (4) years Fire Chief Shane Warner and the Fire Department Staff have submitted grants for a new fire engine to replace obsolete thirty-eight (38) year old American LeFrance Engine 782.
Engine 782 is limited to carrying only two (2) firefighters because it is not safe for firefighters to ride in the outside jump seats. The pump needs replacing, the water tank has several leaks, and the transmission has safety issues. Engine 782 is considered an antique based on its age and style. Fire Chief Warner and the Fire Department Staff’s diligence paid off this year when the Groveland Fire Department was awarded a $294,937 FEMA Grant for this new engine!
Engine 781 will safely carry six (6) firefighters. The cab over design and shorter wheel base is designed especially for our area. The self-contained breathing apparatus is mounted in the seats saving call response time. Engine 781 has a 750 gallon water tank, can also deliver foam, and pumps at 1250 gallons per minute. This new engine will improve the safety of the firefighters and the community that relies on it for service and protection.
